JJ Redick accomplished a lot during his years playing in the NBA but the biggest chapter of his career is about to begin.
Redick is now the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and the pressure is on.
However, Redick won’t be doing it by himself and he has put together a strong staff of assistant coaches.
Speaking with Spectrum SportsNet, per ClutchPoints, Redick talked about the staff that he compiled.
“The biggest thing for me is I wanted to make sure I had a bunch of sickos on my staff. And I think I’ve accomplished that… Yeah, they’re grinders,” Redick said.

In most cases, calling someone a “sicko” would be an insult but Redick is saying it with nothing but pride and admiration.
He has sought assistant coaches who will work hard, tirelessly, and help him get the Lakers into the postseason promised land.
Scott Brooks and Nate McMillan will be by Redick’s side and they have plenty of experience being head coaches in the league.
When the Lakers hired them, it eased the fear of some fans who were afraid of Redick’s inexperience.
It is true that Redick has never coached a team before but he clearly knows a lot about the game of basketball and because of his many years as a star, he can likely create strong relationships with players.
It’ll be tough for him to shake off the inexperience and the sky-high expectations, but Redick has a group of hard-working and dedicated people around him.
He sounds ready to get started and prepared to prove the Lakers made the right choice by hiring him and his talented, experienced staff.
