During the early years of his NBA career, Kevin Durant was one of the most beloved superstars in the league.
However, since joining the Golden State Warriors in 2016 and winning two NBA titles with arguably the best team ever assembled in NBA history, Durant has lost a lot of his fanbase.
In fact, he arguably held the title of the “most hated player” in the NBA during his three-year stint with the Warriors.
Although Durant left the Warriors in 2019, many haven’t forgiven him to this day.
As a result, Durant isn’t viewed as an excellent leader in the NBA community.
But former NBA player turned analyst JJ Redick believes Durant is a great leader, albeit having a different approach to it, via ClutchPoints on Twitter.
“He doesn’t get the credit he deserves because of his decision making, which everyone wants to critique his decision making,” Redick said.
"He doesn't get the credit he deserves because of his decision making, which everyone wants to critique his decision making. I don't necessarily think that's fair… Not everybody leads the same way."

Redick made his thoughts clear on the notion of Durant being criticized in every aspect of his game due to his poor decision making.
Sure, Durant made a questionable move by joining the Warriors and essentially winning easy titles, but it doesn’t take away what he brings to the table.
As of now, Durant is the best player on the Phoenix Suns roster.
Considering he is 35 years old, Durant has years of experience in the tank and it makes him a suitable person to be the leader of the Suns.
Moreover, Durant is not someone who primarily uses his voice to lead the team.
Instead, he lets his game do the talking to get his teammates behind him.
Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Durant is averaging 28.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game despite being in the twilight years of his career.
