The Houston Texans made some bold moves during the 2023 NFL Draft, with the team bringing in potential superstar players on both sides of the football.
With the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, the Texans selected quarterback C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State University to be the new face of the franchise and lead the way for this team under center.
As if that wasn’t a big enough move on draft night, Houston followed it up by immediately addressing the defense by trading up to the No. 3 overall pick to land defensive end Will Anderson Jr. out of the University of Alabama.
Two solid back-to-back moves for the Texans will help pave the way for the future of the struggling franchise after some forgettable seasons with no direction.
On The Jim Rome Show, Texans safety Jimmie Ward made an appearance and showered Stroud with praise after what he’s seen from the rookie quarterback in OTAs.

Stroud getting rave reviews this early from one of the team’s best defensive players is a massive step in the right direction for the Texans, as the rookie may have what it takes to help turn this franchise around.
It’ll be interesting to see if Stroud can continue to make an impression like this once training camp rolls around and things start to heat up, with the defense starting to put the pressure on the promising young quarterback.
Stroud was one of three quarterbacks that were taken in the first round of the NFL Draft and will be one of the young quarterbacks that every NFL fan will be paying close attention to throughout the course of the 2023 NFL season.
