The New York Jets are stumbling toward another disappointing season finish, set to fall below .500 for the ninth straight year.
This extends their playoff drought to 14 seasons, now the longest active streak in American sports.
Adding to their woes, one of their brightest stars might be eyeing the exit door.
Despite the Jets’ ongoing struggles, wide receiver Garrett Wilson has emerged as a consistent bright spot.
ESPN’s Rick Cimini recently shared some intriguing insights about Wilson’s future with the team.
According to sources close to the 24-year-old receiver, he might seek a trade in the upcoming offseason, looking for a chance to showcase his talents with a more stable franchise.
“I talk to people in Garrett Wilson’s circle. They think – now I want to emphasize this is speculation on their part – they think he will ask for a trade after the season,” Cimini revealed on the “Flight Deck” podcast. “Again, speculative, by people who know him. We don’t know that to be a fact.”

Wilson’s career trajectory has been impressive since day one. After claiming the 2022 NFL AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award, he’s now on track for his third straight 1,000-yard season.
With three games remaining, he’s already notched a career-best six touchdowns, suggesting there’s still more in store from the talented receiver.
The quarterback situation in New York remains murky at best. With Aaron Rodgers likely heading toward retirement or being cut this offseason, Wilson’s potential desire for a change of scenery makes sense.
Should he formally request a trade, the Jets won’t lack interested suitors for their star receiver. The return could be substantial – possibly even a first-round draft pick given Wilson’s proven track record and upside.
