The New York Jets’ 2023 season kicked off with a glimmer of hope as Aaron Rodgers returned from his torn Achilles, leading the team to a promising 2-1 start.
But the optimism faded quickly as the Jets slipped back into familiar territory.
Now at 4-10, the team faces a crucial offseason that could bring sweeping changes – from a new GM to a fresh head coach, and possibly even a different quarterback under center.
Amid the uncertainty, Rodgers isn’t rushing to make any calls about his NFL future.
The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt reported Wednesday that the 41-year-old quarterback plans to take time after the season to weigh his options.
While fans might be calling for his retirement following the Jets’ disappointing year, Rodgers is keeping his cards close to the chest.
In his own words, he’ll evaluate his future plans after the season “unless I get released right away.”
Aaron Rodgers said he’ll take some time after the season to decide what he wants to do future-wise “unless I get released right away.”

Last month’s hints about his uncertain football future gained more weight with Rodgers’ Wednesday comments, especially after a roller-coaster 2024 season.
Despite battling injuries throughout the year, he just turned in one of his finest performances on Sunday.
In the Jets’ 32-25 win over the Jaguars, Rodgers looked sharp, throwing for 289 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich saw it as clear evidence that Rodgers has returned to full strength.
That being said, the veteran quarterback’s next move could reshape not just his legacy, but the Jets’ entire trajectory heading into next season.
