The New England Patriots lost another game.
Once again, they failed to even compete at all.
The Los Angeles Chargers marched down the field on offense and shut them down on defense, resulting in a 40-7 blowout.
The Patriots fell to 3-13 for the season with just one game left in their schedule.
That means that Jerod Mayo won’t be able to live up to his word.

He vowed that his team would win more than four games this season.
And while that’s not a high bar against measuring any team, they failed to even do so.
They could reach four wins if they took down the Buffalo Bills in Week 18, but that wouldn’t do them any favors.
The Patriots are slated to have the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft.
That puts them in a position to get the most dynamic and exciting player in the entire class, Travis Hunter.
They won’t want to hurt their chances to get him by winning a meaningless game to close out the season.
Officially, Jerod Mayo’s Patriots were even worse than the last version of Bill Belichick’s Patriots, and that’s a lot to say.
The Patriots were never expected to be a powerhouse this season, but this was disappointing, even by their standards.
Even so, it seems that Mayo isn’t in danger of losing his job; he’ll likely return for at least another season.
