Despite having the 15th-highest amount of pass attempts in the NFL, Hurts is still the highest-ranked deep ball passer in the league.
One of the major reasons for his success this year is the fact that Hurts makes good decisions while under center for the Eagles.
When Hurts came into the NFL, there were many concerns that he was just a mobile quarterback, and he needed help with his arm strength and overall passing abilities.
This has since changed.
Hurts’ Advanced Statistics
Let’s check out a few of Hurts’ advanced statistics, which all can point back to his dominance on the year.
For starters, he has an on-target rate of 79.7%.
This means, that on 79.7% of his passes, he is on target, and puts his receiver in the best position to catch his pass and make something happen with it.
By having a higher on-target rate, Hurts’ receivers have the best opportunity to catch the ball, often resulting in fewer dropped passes.
Eagles pass catchers have a drop rate of just 5.7%, the 15th-best mark in the league.
This has led to receivers having 1,506 yards after the catch, good for sixth-best in the NFL.
The rise of Hurts is one of the main reasons for the Eagles’ success this season.
Will this be enough of a boost for the Eagles to raise the Lombardi at the end of the year?
