The Houston Rockets didn’t take risks in the NBA Draft.
They knew that Jalen Green was the best talent available after Cade Cunningham was gone, so they didn’t hesitate to take him.
Green forwent his college eligibility and spent one year training and playing against pros with the G-League Ignite, so the transition to the NBA was kind of smooth for him, scoring-wise.
Now, the sophomore guard continues to show glimpses of great play and is taking a step forward in his development, turning heads with his offensive skills.
Green has been on a roll as of late, setting career-highs twice in the past three games and helping his team snap a 13-game losing streak with a 42-point performance on 60% shooting.

Perhaps the biggest and most important takeaway from Green’s past two solid games is the fact that he’s finally knocking down shots at a high clip.
Poor efficiency and shot selection have been the biggest concerns with Green in the early stages of his career.
He’s gotten the green light to take as many shots as he wants in Houston, and that may not always be the best way to develop young scorers.
The Rockets play a lot of one-on-one, and isolation basketball, and hero ball doesn’t usually win a lot of games in the NBA.
So, it’s nice to see that Green is finally coming together and learning how to get to his spots and make the most of his skills, as losing habits are hard to shake off with the years.
