The Houston Rockets have made the most of every asset they got in the post-James Harden era, at least talent-wise.
The team has yet to gel and reach its best version, and some tend to believe that things won’t change with Stephen Silas in charge of the roster.
But even despite their struggles and seemingly halted development, the young Rockets have shown glimpses of untapped potential during key stretches.
That’s been particularly evident with Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green.
They both complement each other perfectly offensively, with Sengun dominating down low and being a perennial threat to pick-and-pop thanks to his passing skills, and Green opening up a lot of space with his drives and shooting.
There’s zero reason Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green can’t form an awesome tandem.

Both are solid playmakers, but the need for a pass-first kind of point guard has hurt the Rockets more often than not.
As good as a scorer as he is, Kevin Porter Jr. isn’t a pure point guard, and he’s not the right guy to orchestrate and pull the strings of the offense.
Sengun has looked way ahead of schedule in just his second season in the NBA.
He’s been a poor man’s Nikola Jokic with his combination of handles, shooting, and passing, and the Rockets might need to realize that he’s their best player right now, even if that wasn’t the plan.
As for Green, he’s shown the potential to be among the league’s finest scorers, but he needs someone to feed him the ball and help him get to his spots.
Otherwise, he’ll never be an efficient scorer.
