The Atlanta Hawks have been trying to build their position in the East for the last several seasons but they haven’t had a lot of luck.
Head coach Quin Snyder has been attempting to restructure how the team works to find more success.
According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Snyder plans to alter how guard Trae Young operates.
“What Snyder wants is for his star to get rid of the rock, early and often,” Weiss wrote.

The idea of Young not holding onto the ball seems somewhat surprising, considering he is averaging 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 11.5 assists per game this season on 39 percent from the field.
But Snyder’s plan could work, especially if Young is finding the right players to pass the ball to.
This will require the Hawks to space the floor well, have multiple shooters at the ready, and move with speed.
They seem capable of all those things.
Right now, they hold a 4-7 record and are hopeful they can have a presence in the playoffs again this season.
Fans have considered them the definition of mediocre for the last few seasons because they have consistently fallen short of their goals.
Snyder isn’t done trying new things and figuring out what will make Atlanta work.
Young might be their biggest star and their best shooter but to make the Hawks win, his role on the team may have to change.
Now is the right time to make this change because the Hawks’ roster has gotten deeper and there are more options to score.
