Kirk Cousins’ tenure with the Atlanta Falcons hasn’t gone well so far, and he hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in a month while leading the NFL with 15 interceptions.
The Falcons are 6-7 after losing four in a row, and one insider recently revealed a big concern that he’s hearing about Cousins’ future.
Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports appeared on “Speak” and said, “I truly believe the only reason the Falcons haven’t gone to Michael Penix Jr. yet is because of optics…I’ve had players inside that locker room tell me point blank, Michael Penix Jr. is the best quarterback in this building.”

With Cousins throwing eight picks and no touchdowns over this losing streak, saying Penix is the best quarterback on the team isn’t exactly a hot take at this point.
If Schultz is hearing this directly from the locker room, it’s a massive issue and speaks to a larger problem that there could potentially be a divide within the organization.
Cousins signed a 4-year deal and Penix was selected to be his heir apparent, but that wasn’t supposed to come into question this early.
Cousins looked rejuvenated early on, but this 4-game skid has fans and apparently players heavily questioning the direction of the organization.
The Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants are the next two teams on the schedule for the Falcons, so there’s no excuse not to be back above .500 after those two matchups.
If Cousins can’t light up the two worst teams in the league, it could be over for him in Atlanta.
