As if the Detroit Pistons didn’t have enough problems already, they recently lost their biggest star due to injury.
Back on January 9, the team announced that Cade Cunningham had suffered a left knee strain and would re-evaluated in 7 to 10 days.
On Friday morning, Marc Spears reported that Cunningham had been cleared to resume basketball activities.
He will ramp up a return for action on the court and is expected to be back with the Pistons in the next five to seven days.
The Pistons say guard Cade Cunningham (left knee strain) has been cleared to resume basketball activities and will begin a ramp up for return to action. He is expected to return in the next 5-7 days.

The season has been an absolute disaster for the Pistons, who currently hold a shockingly bad 4-37 record.
However, Cunningham has been a bright spot for Detroit and he is averaging 22.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game, shooting 44.9% from the floor.
Since being selected as the number one pick back in 2021, Cunningham’s time in the NBA has been met with negative results for his team and a mixed response to his performance.
But he is now doing his best work in his third season and he is one of the few reasons why fans are hopeful for the Pistons’ future.
The front office currently sees Cunningham as the future of the franchise and they envision him helping with a rebuilding process that will eventually lead them back to the playoffs.
It is hard to not feel hopeful for the Pistons when you see Cunningham do so well.
He has had his fair share of injury problems during his few years in the league but this latest one was thankfully minor and his absence from the team was brief.
No one expects the Pistons to somehow rebound and make it to the postseason this year.
But people are very happy to see Cunningham back so they can again get a taste of Detroit’s future.
