After the New Orleans Saints got their 2024 season off to an explosive start with a 47-10 blowout win against the Carolina Panthers, they will face a much more difficult test when they visit the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.
They’re also facing another test in the form of Hurricane Francine, which made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 storm.
The eye is expected to pass just miles west of New Orleans, and as a result, the Saints sent their players home and ended practice early, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
“Something to watch leading up to the Saints’ game against the Cowboys on Sunday,” he wrote on X.

Hurricane Francine has weakened somewhat since making landfall, as it is reportedly now a Category 1 hurricane, but it will still pack a serious punch as it makes its way north.
The Saints, who were counted out by many after a disappointing 2023 season, packed a serious punch of their own in Week 1, as quarterback Derek Carr was 19-for-23 with three touchdown passes without an interception.
Third-year wide receiver Rashid Shaheed had three catches for 73 yards and one touchdown, while running back Alvin Kamara added 83 rushing yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys played well in their 33-17 Week 1 victory against the Cleveland Browns, and though they have some roster holes, they have to be taken seriously as a very good team that can do damage.
New Orleans’ schedule doesn’t get any easier, as they face the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs in the following three weeks.
