The Charlotte Hornets built their roster around LaMelo Ball.
That seemed like a logical decision at one point, but they might have to reconsider that stance.
As talented as he is, Ball has been quite injury-prone throughout the course of his young career, so they might have to pivot.
According to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the former No. 3 pick isn’t going to play again this season.
Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball — who’s missed 29 consecutive games with an ankle injury — will remain out for the final two-plus weeks of the season, team says.

Ball has missed the past 29 games with an ankle injury, so this is far from a surprise.
Also, with the Hornets’ season all but done, there was essentially no point in rushing him back to the floor.
The youngest Ball brother was averaging a career-high 23.9 points with 8.0 assists per game this season.
The former Rookie of the Year is one of the most talented players in the game, and he’s very entertaining to watch.
Then again, he’s only played 51, 75, 36, and 22 games now in four seasons in the league, and that’s a worrisome concern.
Whatever the case, the Hornets are still a ways away from being a good team, so even if LaMelo manages to get healthy, he might not want to stay there for much longer.
With that in mind, perhaps it’s time for the Hornets to reconsider their stance and look to build around Brandon Miller instead.
