Just a couple of years ago, the new-look Charlotte Hornets looked on track to contention.
Then, Miles Bridges’ off-court issues took a big toll on their project, and they’re now likely to lose him without getting anything in return.
They’ve already parted ways with key pieces of their team, such as PJ Washington, and LaMelo Ball just can’t seem to stay healthy.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that they’ve been eliminated from playoff contention, and that’s despite still having over ten games left in the regular season (via Legion Hoops).

Brandon Miller had a decent rookie season, and the upside is most definitely there.
But other than that, there’s not much to be excited about if you’re a Charlotte Hornets fan.
LaMelo Ball is obviously one of the most entertaining players to watch, but he’s been quite injury prone throughout the course of his brief career in the league, and it’s hard to envision him staying there for long if they don’t start winning some games.
The Hornets will have another high draft pick next season, and they should focus all of their efforts on building around Miller, who’s going to stay there for the length of his contract and who’s younger and cheaper than Ball.
Whatever the case, this team will still struggle to get back to the playoffs, as they’re still several pieces away, even with a healthy LaMelo and even if they shockingly decide to re-sign Bridges after everything that has transpired.
