In many ways, Victor Wembanyama’s rookie season is all but over.
His San Antonio Spurs are out of playoff contention, which means that he will miss out on the postseason.
But that doesn’t mean he isn’t doing incredible things and gaining a ton of attention still.
Speaking with the press, via ClutchPoints, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich spoke about his young player’s talent and potential.
Popovich said:
“[Wembanyama is] a multitalented young man. He’s going to show us things that none of us have ever seen before… The attention that he gets [makes] it a tough position for him to be in, but he handles it with class.”

For his rookie year, Wembanyama has averaged 20.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
He is also leading the league in blocks, with 3.5, even though it’s only his first season.
When he entered the league this season, there was a lot of expectation and high hopes for Wembanyama.
He has surpassed many of them and has seemed more and more confident as the months have gone on.
Popovich said that Wembanyama is handling all the attention with class and that is true too.
He has become one of the biggest basketball players in the world and has adjusted to that without much conflict.
The lights have been shining bright on Wembanayama but he has handled it well.
Wembanyama has already shown the league a lot but he might show a whole lot more in the years ahead, according to Popovich.
That is much more likely if the team around him is much stronger.
There have been rumors about the Spurs acquiring more talent in the summer, in order to give Wembanyama more assistance in the future.
That means that this might be the last time he doesn’t reach the playoffs.
