The team’s official Twitter account said, “Legacy is timeless. Classic blue uniforms are BACK.”
The post includes a video that ties the old and the new.
Saquon Barkley sits in front of his locker and listens to music on his walkman.
From there a montage of shots from the old Giants Stadium and the current Metlife Stadium appears.
The narrator also said, “Legacy is indeed timeless. It’s generational.”
But to link the past to the present, Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor also appears in the video.
He is the perfect person for the role because he is one of the best defensive players of all time.
Taylor led the Giants defense that won two Super Bowls and he was named league MVP in 1986.
His legacy goes beyond his playing days because his dominance had a profound impact on the game.
As Taylor rolled down the window of his vehicle, the logo of Metlife Stadium switched into that of his old stomping grounds.
Then he said, “I’m back!”
Return Of The Blue Uniforms Generates Excitement For Giants Fans
The narrator said it best when he mentioned, “the pride, the passion.”
The iconic uniform represents the glorious days that the Giants would like to revive.
That’s why it’s so dramatic that Taylor was the one who handed Barkley his Big Blue jersey while saying “this is for you, home boy.”
It’s like the legends of the past have their seal of approval on the return of the uniforms that made them heroes.
The timeless design of the uniforms does look good on the new generation of Giants players.
With that, their fans hope that looking good on the field will boost their team’s morale to perform better.
