Aaron Rodgers is, by all means, one of the greatest quarterbacks – and players – in NFL history.
However, he’s 41 years old already, and he’s coming off a major injury two years ago, and a subpar season last year.
Nevertheless, former Pittsburgh Steelers OL Willie Colon still believes he can be an impactful addition for his team.
Talking on the NFL Network, the retired lineman claimed that Rodgers could be just what the team needs to reset the culture:
“You’re getting a 41-year-old quarterback who has a chip on his shoulder. If I’m the Steelers, I’m treating Aaron Rodgers like a hired mercenary, like an assassin, like John Wick. I need you to reset the culture. I need you to come in, win football games,” Colon said.

Rodgers has always taken a ‘no-nonsense’ approach on the field and in the locker room, and he won’t hesitate to call out anybody and get in anybody’s face if needed.
Granted, he’s also lacked accountability at times, but the fact of the matter is that bringing him there raises the bar and sets up a certain type of standard, at least on paper.
Mike Tomlin has drawn criticism for failing to bring the best out of some of his players, as he’s more of a players’ coach who hasn’t always pressured them or held them accountable.
That’s not going to be the case with Rodgers there.
The Steelers’ offensive line will continue to be a concern, and given Rodgers’ mobility – or lack thereof – that could also spell disaster.
But if they hold their ground, Rodgers could turn back the clock for at least one season, given that some players usually need more than one year after an Achilles injury to get back to their former level.
That’s a lot of ‘ifs,’ but one should know better than to count out a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.
