Although they didn’t end up winning the Finals, the recent postseason from the Miami Heat will be remembered for a very long time.
Despite the odds and predictions from many, the Heat were able to push through the entire playoffs and go all the way to the championship.
That was partly due to Jimmy Butler.
Speaking on “The Old Man & The Three,” former Heat star Gabe Vincent said that Butler’s performance and personality lifted up the entire team.
He said that Butler started to run his mouth and fire up his team first during their opening-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks.
“Jimmy was Jimmy in the truest fashion,” Vincent said.
He added that Buttler “started getting into that mode that we all love,” and that “it was awesome, it just gave the whole team a lot of life.”
Vincent said that even though the Heat were down by ten points towards the end of a game against the Bucks, Butler was still “talking s–t” and acting as if his team was going to easily win.
That sort of attitude could backfire on some teams and embarrass them but it’s not what happened with Miami.
Instead, Vincent states that Butler’s confidence helped others perform well and pushed them past the finish line.
After defeating the Bucks, victory continued for the Heat.
They then took down the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics before reaching the Finals against the Denver Nuggets.
Butler had his fair share of good and bad moments during the playoffs, with some saying he wasn’t performing as well as they expected.
Even though his point production was lacking at times, Butler was still a driving force behind the team’s self-belief and desire to go as far as possible.
