Almost a month after Jonathan Taylor told the Indianapolis Colts he wanted to be traded and team owner Jim Irsay announced publicly that the team wouldn’t trade him, it seems the team has finally folded and has bent to Taylor’s desire to be moved.
The Colts have officially given permission to Taylor and his representation to seek a trade, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, which makes things interesting moving forward for Indianapolis and arguably one of the league’s best running backs.
At one point in time, every team in the league would be climbing over one another to bring in a player of Taylor’s caliber, as an entire offense can be built around a player like him, who has already been an All-Pro and is only 24 years old.
Unfortunately, these days the running back position isn’t as valuable as it once was, with a lot of teams not willing to commit to lucrative long-term deals to these players.

Now the plot thickens as it will be interesting to see how many teams in the league show interest in trading for Taylor in an attempt to instantly upgrade their running game.
Considering the state of the running back position in the NFL, there’s no telling how things will pan out moving forward, as a lot of teams may be content with their situation in the backfield with only a few weeks left before Week 1.
However, anything can happen as a team could come out of nowhere and pull off a deal, but who knows if that team is a contender or a team trying to make a push for the playoffs.
