Earlier this summer, star running back Jonathan Taylor dropped a bombshell on the Indianapolis Colts franchise as he told the team that he wants to be traded ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
Apparently, things didn’t go as planned when contract talks started between the two sides, and that convinced Taylor he wouldn’t be paid what he desired with the franchise, prompting him to ask out.
This rubbed team owner Jim Irsay the wrong way, as he responded to the request claiming there was no way the team would trade Taylor and that he’d have to deal with it.
That stance appears to have changed with news breaking on Monday that the Colts have given Taylor permission to seek a trade, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

This is a drastic turn of events for the Colts, as Irsay seemed adamant and angered by Taylor’s trade request, with a total reluctance to make this happen.
Obviously, Irsay has changed his mind, as Taylor and his people have likely made their intentions just as adamant.
The real question now is what team has the money and assets to trade for Taylor because he’ll likely want to sign a long-term deal upon arrival, and that may not be an easy task with how teams view elite backs these days.
As arguably one of the elite backs in the league, there’s bound to be interest in Taylor’s services, but it remains to be seen how a deal comes together ahead of the 2023 NFL season or at some point during the season.
