The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off a season in which the young team was able to secure the second seed in the highly competitive Western Conference, with the squad coming together led by Desmond Bane and superstar Ja Morant.
Unfortunately, once the team made it into the NBA playoffs as the second seed behind the Denver Nuggets, things started to fall apart for Memphis while they were going up against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even though the Lakers needed the Play-In Tournament to secure their spot in the postseason, Los Angeles looked more like the second seed rather than the seventh seed, as they were able to pull off the first-round upset over Morant and company.
In the aftermath of the first-round loss to the Lakers, the Grizzlies headed into the offseason with their heads hanging low, but to make matters worse, Morant got in trouble again due to some off-the-court antics.
As a result of his punishment by the NBA for brandishing a gun on social media for a second time, Morant will be suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season, which is a costly blow for Memphis.
With Morant on the verge of letting a very promising future slip through his hands, it appears he’s going with a different approach moving forward, as he’s embracing a different mentality, as shown in these pictures via Eric Tweets NBA.

If Morant continues on his path to self-destruction, the Grizzlies will grow tired of his antics and likely try to trade him, as there’s no point having a superstar guard if he’s always getting in trouble due to some questionable off-the-court decisions.
However, he could be determined to turn things around, which is a welcome sight for the Grizzlies and the team’s fanbase.
