The Memphis Grizzlies made a couple of major additions to their roster for next season.
Obviously, trading for Marcus Smart will help them hold down the fort while Ja Morant serves that 25-game suspension, not to mention his defensive impact.
He’s a vocal leader and the kind of guy who won’t hesitate to get in his teammates’ faces and push them to the edge if that’s what they need to get over the hump.
However, former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas believes that Derrick Rose’s presence will have an even bigger impact on Morant’s career.
Notably, Rose already knows what it’s like to live in Memphis and all the temptation that can come with it, including the streets and the nightlife.
He also had a similar game to Morant’s, but the fact that he was a former MVP and a star of this game should make the youngster listen to him.
Rose has never been the most outspoken guy in the league, but he’s widely beloved and respected.
He’s never gotten into trouble, and he’s the kind of person everyone will listen to when he talks.
Morant has a bright future ahead of him and could be one of the best players in the league in no time, but he needs to focus on the important things and leave those off-court antics aside.
That’s why even though he may not be on the court often with his new team, Derrick Rose could end up being the X-Factor for the up-and-coming Memphis Grizzlies.
