With the 2023 NFL Draft already in the history books, fans and pundits have fired their hot takes left and right.
Everybody has something to say about what their team did or didn’t do during the festivities, most of them overreactions.
That’s why NFL insider Dov Kleiman made sure to point out how little NFL Draft grades mean by bringing back Patrick Mahomes’ scouting report from 2017.
Reminder that post-Draft grades don't mean anything.

The Kansas City Chiefs got a C- for taking Mahomes, who was deemed an inaccurate passer with poor mechanics and a tendency to bail on clean pockets.
Of course, that raised some hilarious opinions on social media.
IMO It still remains to be seen if Mahomes can make it in this league or not

Mahomes was that low because he was a project and the main reason why he is the way he is was falling into a top 10 offensive roster in the league with the best overall QB system so that grading makes sense lmao

To think I was against Giants taking Mahomes when Ben McAdoo wanted to trade up for him because I wanted a Tight End for Eli. Smh🤦🏼♂️

Fast forward to today, and Mahomes is the undisputed No. 1 quarterback in the league, and it’s not like it took him a lot of time to prove his doubters wrong.
Mahomes has turned the Chiefs into the team to beat in the AFC, and most likely in the league as a whole.
More than that, he’s already done more than enough to be considered a Hall of Famer, and he hasn’t even turned 30 years old.
It’s hard to be 100% accurate when predicting the future of an NFL player.
Projections are always useful, but there are so many intangibles that simply cannot be measured.
Luck, health, a favorable system, and a team that’s willing to take a chance on you and let you play through your mistakes can help a seemingly average player become a legend.
So, if you’re still angry for what your team did when they were on the clock, you should at least wait until they play a snap in the league before counting them out.
