August 24th is no ordinary day for Los Angeles Lakers fans, and maybe most NBA fans as a whole.
It’s the day we remember the late great Kobe Bryant, which is no coincidence, as the date features both of his jerseys (No. 24 and No. 8).
What could be a coincidence is the fact that Kobe actually had one of his most epic performances on this very same day 15 years ago.
He dominated Spain with a 20-point, six-assist performance in the 2008 Olympics gold medal game, silencing the crowd and letting everybody know that he was the best player on Earth at the time.
That’s why multiple people took to the Twitter post by NBA Central to remember the legendary shooting guard and celebrate his dominance once again.

Kobe was one of the most influential figures in the history of basketball.
His determination to work harder than everybody else in the league and one-up every single competitor made him as feared as he was respected.
He was the closest thing we ever got to Michael Jordan, taking all moves of his repertoire and adding some of his own.
One of the greatest mid-range scorers to ever lace them up, and a fearless and relentless scorer that could out-score a team — which he once did — you just knew something special was about to happen when he took the court.
It’s crazy to think that it’s been 15 years since that game already, but it’s even crazier to realize that he’s been gone for three years.
