It is hard to believe it’s been over three years since the tragic death of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, but the world was reminded of the reality during his birthday on Aug. 23.
Bryant would have turned 45 years old and he was honored and celebrated throughout the day by countless peers and fans.
NBA stars like LeBron James and Kyrie Irving posted on their Instagram accounts to wish Bryant a happy birthday while former teammates such as Caron Butler and Lamar Odom greeted him on Twitter.
Through the years, Bryant’s wife Vanessa has done well to honor and respect her late husband’s legacy and has publicly held strong despite the devastating loss.
On Bryant’s special day, Vanessa posted a heartfelt message and photos on her Instagram account via Clutch Points.
“Happy birthday, baby. I love you always and forever,” she wrote.

Although Bryant was characterized as ruthless and cutthroat on the basketball court, he was the complete opposite when he was with Vanessa and their daughters.
The Black Mamba persona that he embodied during his 20-year career came down whenever he was with his family and he was widely seen as a loving husband and father.
Bryant’s time with the Lakers and all that he accomplished endeared him to the City of Los Angeles and Lakers fans forever.
His impact and influence on the game of basketball can’t be understated, and the Hall of Famer will always be remembered as one of the best players to ever lace them up.
