The Washington Commanders may have hit on Jayden Daniels when they selected him No. overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Commanders were in desperate need of a quarterback this offseason and took a shot on Daniels who arguably has the most upside of any quarterback in his draft class.
Daniels emerged as a tantalizing prospect in his final year in college at LSU where he captured the Heisman Trophy after a successful offensive season.
A dual-threat quarterback, Daniels has the ability to push the football downfield as well as keep it himself and make plays on the ground.
That was on full display in Week 1 and Daniels continued that trend in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
However, fans expressed some concern for Daniels after he took a hard hit on a keeper run that forced him off the field for a play via Chad Ryan.
“Jayden Daniels is shaken up on this run that resulted in a 1st down,” Ryan reported.

Bad news is not going to make it through the season. Worse, they need him to do this to have any chance in a game.

In the video, Daniels takes a shot to the ribs from a second defender after getting wrapped up by the legs by the first tackler.
Daniels looked shaken up and was checked out on the sidelines, but fortunately made his return on the same drive.
However, it does raise some questions as to whether or not Washington should allow Daniels to continue carrying the football as much because of his thin frame and the physicality of the NFL level.
For now, though, Daniels will continue to play his game until he is forced not to.
