The Dallas Mavericks made yet another head-scratching decision.
While it’s easy to understand why any team would want to add Anthony Davis, giving up Luka Doncic in the process was a major surprise.
This is the same front office that let Jalen Brunson go a couple of seasons ago.
That’s why several fans took to social media to criticize GM Nico Harrison and the Mavs for this decision.
Mavs really had two of the best young guards in the NBA ?
Now they're both on different teams ? pic.twitter.com/0pq68MufdI

Of course, Anthony Davis is one of the best players of all time.
He’s a former NBA champion and a future Hall of Famer; that should go without saying.
Nevertheless, the Mavs made it to the NBA Finals just last season.
In his first year with a proper supporting cast, Doncic took his team all the way before losing to an absolute juggernaut of a team in the Boston Celtics.
Even if that hadn’t been the case, Doncic is much younger than the injury-prone Davis.
According to Brian Windhorst, there was no word around the league that the Mavs would consider trading Doncic, meaning there were no other bidders.
That’s just poor asset management and a disservice to the organization.
The Minnesota Timberwolves got Rudy Gobert for four first-round picks and a first-round pick swap, and the Mavs only got one first-rounder out of this deal.
It’s hard to believe that they couldn’t have gotten a much more significant return had they done their due diligence around the league.
Now, the team will be under a lot of pressure to prove that this was the right move for the present and the future.
