Everyone Is Saying The Same Thing About Baker Mayfield

Quarterback Baker Mayfield had a second lease on his NFL career when the Carolina Panthers traded for him.

In return, they only gave the Cleveland Browns a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

That selection will become a fourth-rounder if Mayfield plays 70 percent of the snaps this season.

Mayfield is on pace to satisfy that condition as the Panthers’ starting quarterback.

He beat Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker for the role one month after the trade.

However, it isn’t a tough crowd to outplay, given Darnold’s struggles and Walker’s inexperience.

Worst yet, Mayfield hasn’t done much in three games as Carolina’s starter.

No wonder this football fan saw wisdom with the Browns swinging for the fence with Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson despite the moral and legal concerns.

After seeing Baker Mayfield play QB, I understand why the Browns were willing to take the heat for signing Watson.

There seems to be a consensus that Mayfield isn’t going to cut it as an NFL quarterback.

While he did lead the Browns to a playoff appearance after almost two decades, he has been awful with the Panthers.

Mayfield’s Game Is Regressing

While the Panthers won their Week 3 showdown against the New Orleans Saints, Mayfield completed only 12 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown pass to Laviska Shenault Jr.

Though that completion was enough to give Carolina the edge, wide receiver DJ Moore was nowhere to be found in that game.

Mayfield hit Moore once for a two-yard completion.

Moore is yet to have a 100-yard game this season and is in danger of breaking his streak of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.

Those numbers have this fan considering him as a WR1 killer.

I was wrong on Baker Mayfield, he's the WR1 killer.

First OBJ, now DJM.

Mayfield’s game is also having a drastic effect on Christian McCaffrey.

Through 3 weeks, Baker Mayfield has a 52% completion percentage and has made CMC and DJ Moore mostly irrelevant.

Kyle Allen was better for CMC and DJM. No words.

With how things ended in Cleveland and his current performance with Carolina, Mayfield’s NFL future is in jeopardy.
