Caleb Williams has not had the rookie year he envisioned as the Chicago Bears’ No. 1 overall pick.
His team is now on an 8-game losing streak after a disappointing performance on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings.
His stats are good on paper, but he has not had the success of some of his draftmates, such as Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix.
His recent failures have brought up something from his past that is not making his life any easier.
After the Bears followed up Caleb’s first overall pick by drafting punter Tory Taylor in the fourth round, Williams notoriously texted Taylor, “Hey, you’re not going to punt too much this year” and joked about it at the time.

It’s his first year as a NFL quarterback.
He’s learning a lot and his education is far from done.This shot reminds me of when Darnold said “He was seeing ghosts.” It was a honest moment in real time.

I hope that’s not a serious question. We literally have two top picks balling out this season after being declared busts by teams that drafted them. Time is important. So is coaching and I think we’ve seen more from CW than the staff working with him to get better

Williams has 17 touchdowns and just five interceptions with 408 rushing yards and hasn’t thrown a pick throughout this 8-game losing streak.
Understandably, Williams’ confidence and bold statements are being thrown back in his face after an 8-game losing streak, but it’s important for the future of this franchise that he stays strong and keeps the focus on the field.
This was always a comment that wasn’t going to age well if things went poorly in his first year, but Williams has shown a ton of promise, and there is no reason for Bears fans to be worried yet.
Just get this kid an offensive line and some consistent coaching.
