The Philadelphia Eagles had a lot of eyes on their 2023 draft picks.
They selected two players in the first round from the University of Georgia, a common theme for the organization.
One of those picks was Jalen Carter, a prospect with mixed reviews heading into the NFL.
Carter has garnered significant praise from veteran Darius Slay, who had a lot of nice things to say about him.
In a recent article shared by Pro Football Talk, Slay compared Carter to a “Baby Rhino.”

As the article indicates, Slay made sure not to make too many player comparisons for Carter.
While it can be a helpful tool to compare rookies to long-time veterans, it can also put a potential ceiling on them.
If Carter is compared to someone like Aaron Donald or J.J. Watt, it might be difficult for him to live up to those standards.
With this in mind, Slay did talk about Carter’s dominance, and how he’s been able to impress his teammates already.
Slay talked about Lane Johnson, who is widely regarded as one of the best offensive linemen in the league.
As Slay mentioned, Johnson described Carter as a “game-changer.”
Carter has been hyped up by his teammates, which has been received well by fans.
If he can live up to these expectations, the Eagles’ defense will be a prime beneficiary of his early success.
The Eagles had one of the league’s top defenses in 2023, and are looking to continue their dominance with Carter performing up to his pre-draft expectations.
