The Cleveland Browns went through several obstacles before signing Pro Bowl quarterback Deshaun Watson.

First, there’s the Baker Mayfield situation which could become a distraction if not addressed.

Then, the Browns were initially informed to be out of the running for Watson.

It looked like the former Clemson standout would either join the New Orleans Saints or Atlanta Falcons.

The emotional connection he had with the Falcons runs deep because the Georgia native was a former ball boy for his hometown team.

But in the eleventh hour, the Browns pulled a miracle by getting the 2020 passing yards leader.

Perhaps the five-year, $230 million fully guaranteed deal helped Watson change his mind.

Regardless of the reason, the Browns undoubtedly got a massive upgrade at quarterback.

It will take time before Watson returns to form, especially if the NFL will bestow a suspension on him.

What’s a short wait for years of playoff contention with him under center?

Undoubtedly, Watson is a Brown thanks to this video shared by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport quoted a video from Dan Wagner wherein Watson is wearing a Browns jacket as he enters the team’s facility in Berea, Ohio.

Watson Will Finally Take The Field

It looked like Watson might be out of football indefinitely when he was dealing with 22 sexual misconduct cases.

However, there was an opening in the clouds when the criminal charges against him were dropped.

There are still some legal matters he must face, but he can do so while playing for the Browns.

He last played in 2020, finishing with 4,823 yards, 33 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions.
