Baltimore Ravens superstar running back Derrick Henry has solidified himself as the transcendent running back of his generation after nearly a decade of relying on his iconic stiff arm and powerful running style to collect nearly 11,000 rushing yards and over 100 rushing touchdowns.
Not only have his size and his stiff arm been iconic, but his hair has always been a big part of who he is as well, as many NFL fans will have nightmares for years of a 250-pound running back with one giant dreadlock protruding out of the back of his helmet bullying their defense into submission.
To everyone’s surprise, that hair is no more, as a video shows Henry showing off his new haircut.

Henry chopped off the locks and held them up for the camera while he showed off a new, much shorter hairstyle: tight braids.
It’s a jarring visual, as his long hair has become such a staple of his appearance over the years.
It will take time to get used to being able to read the name on the back of his jersey, but maybe having less hair will make him even faster as he continues to stomp through opposing defenses into his 30s.
Henry is on pace to have one of his best seasons.
He has already rushed for 1,407 yards and 13 touchdowns this year while averaging a career-high 5.9 yards per carry.
Doing this in the middle of a season is risky if you’re superstitious, but we’ll see if the sleeker hairstyle makes him a bit faster on Sunday.
