The New Orleans Saints didn’t waste any time finding a new quarterback this offseason as they immediately signed Derek Carr to a four-year deal after he was released by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Carr’s time with the Raiders ended on a sour note as he was benched for the team’s final two regular season games after a disappointing stretch of performances.
However, Carr has been thriving with the Saints who are currently 2-0 during the 2023 NFL season.
The quarterback has shown some encouraging signs so far as he’s got a connection with Chris Olave and Michael Thomas already.
Although the wins have come against the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers, Carr has done what’s been asked of him and the team finds itself in a good spot right now.
As far as his relationship with his former head coach Josh McDaniels goes, Carr said there are no hard feelings between the two via ESPN.
Despite the sour ending, #Saints QB Derek Carr says he still texted Josh McDaniels to congratulate him on the Raiders' Week 1 win.
"I'm gonna be the type of guy I want my kids to be if they go through a hard time."

In the clip, Carr reveals that he texted McDaniels after the Raiders beat the Broncos in Week 1.
No one would blame Carr for disliking McDaniels considering how he benched him, but it seems as though the signal caller has moved on and is even supportive of Las Vegas still.
For all his shortcomings and flaws on the field, Carr has always been a high-character person who understands interpersonal relationships.
His texting McDaniels shows how mature he is and how he is able to let things go.
Regardless of what happened in the past, Carr seems ready to move on with his new team.
