The Monday Night Football showdown between the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints ended as expected, with Derek Carr and company coming out on top, but the game was anything but pretty for either team.
Despite 11 points scored by the Panthers in the fourth quarter, the Saints were able to maintain their lead and get the team’s second win of the 2023 NFL season.
As a result of the win for New Orleans, there’s a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South division, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons also supporting 2-0 records.
Following the three-point win over the Panthers, things got heated on the way back to the locker room for these two teams, with Saints star wide receiver Michael Thomas and defensive lineman Derrick Brown having words, via Ari Meirov and Jono Barnes.

With the way things are shaping up in the NFC South, things could get interesting moving forward because, initially, it seemed as though this division was in contention for one of the worst in the NFL this season.
It’s not all surprising that things would get heated between the Panthers and Saints, considering how the game ended and the fact Carolina came so close to getting its first win in the Bryce Young era.
These two division rivals won’t go head-to-head again until December 10, when Carr and company will play host to Young and his squad at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
With a lot of games set to be played between now and then, it’ll be interesting to see where these teams are in the division standings and if Carolina was able to turn the corner.NEXT: Saints HC Gives An Update On Jamaal Williams' Injury
