After agreeing to a three-year, $121.5 million contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders, Derek Carr got paid.
But even if he became a member of the $40 million club, the former Fresno State standout still has his share of naysayers.
His detractors have valid reasons, including the fact that he threw 14 interceptions last season.
The NFL on CBS Twitter account also pointed out that Carr has the third-most turnovers among quarterbacks since 2018.
However, they also gave merit to Carr’s contract extension with this tweet.
Since 2015:

They pointed out that Carr performs well in the clutch with the most game-winning drives (29) and fourth-quarter comebacks (23) since 2015.
But as great as he is when the game is on the line, he is yet to win a playoff game in his eight-year NFL career.
That unfortunate reality might change soon after their spending spree this offseason.
Las Vegas Went All In
The Raiders rewarded defensive end Maxx Crosby with a four-year, $98 million deal after a season with 36 solo tackles and six sacks.
Then, they also brought in Chandler Jones on a three-year, $51 million deal.
Jones and Crosby will lead their pass rush, but the latter can also help in zone coverage.
Las Vegas also signed Davante Adams on a five-year, $141.25 million deal.
Adams and Carr gives the Raiders a potent quarterback-receiver tandem.
Carr’s former teammate can also stretch the field to attract much attention from defensive backs.
Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow, and Darren Waller will also benefit from mismatches or one-on-one coverages.
These additions will help the Raiders perform well during pressure-packed situations.
But when the chips are down, it’s nice to know that Carr can calm their nerves and lead them to victory.
