The Houston Texans have found their new head coach.
Although DeMeco Ryans have only been in the building for less than a week, first impressions indicate that he is happy with his decision.

Ryans was a member of the San Francisco 49ers’ staff since 2017 and has been given his first opportunity to have a head coaching role in Houston.
In his days as a player, Ryans was a second-round draft pick by the Texans in 2006, where he played for the team for six seasons.
Ryans was a dominant linebacker, and his career in the NFL spanned nine seasons, split between the Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.
Will Ryans be able to find similar success as a head coach?
This offseason, there were five available head coaching roles.
From an outsider’s perspective, it appeared that the Denver Broncos head coaching role was the most coveted, given the fact that Russell Wilson was their quarterback.
For Ryans, it appears to be about more than the players that are currently on the roster, but rather, an opportunity to coach for the team that gave him a shot in the NFL.
The Texans have hit a rough patch in the last few years, but hope to turn it around under Ryans’ tutelage.
Heading into the 2023 season, because they have a top-five draft pick, the Texans should be able to grab a franchise-altering player, whether that is at the quarterback position or otherwise.
Will Ryans be able to find success that his predecessor, Lovie Smith, was unable to?
