The Carolina Panthers haven’t necessarily been among the best teams in the league for a while now.
Ever since that failed trip to the Super Bowl and Cam Newton’s injury-riddled demise, they’ve been more of a bottom-feeding team.
On top of that, David Tepper has drawn some harsh criticism for the way he’s dealt with the team.
Even so, the controversial owner seems to be quite satisfied with his team’s performances this season.
In a recent media availability, he claimed that the team is building something special right now.

Of course, one wouldn’t necessarily think that by looking at their record.
Still, coach Dave Canales does deserve credit for their improvement.
They didn’t have that much talent, but they’ve been fairly more competitive over the past six weeks or so.
Canales has helped Bryce Young regain his confidence, and he’s even looked like a legitimate NFL quarterback since he became a starter again after Andy Dalton was in a car accident.
This team still has a lot to do, and the way they moved on from most of their stars and got virtually nothing in return clearly set them back years.
There are also legitimate concerns about whether a volatile and unpredictable owner like David Tepper will allow Canales and the current brass to build their project.
If that’s the case, the Panthers might be back to contending ways in a couple of years, but it’s hard to blame those fans who are still skeptical about that.
