The Green Bay Packers offense took a major hit last year when they traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Notably, however, most of the narrative centered around how much Adams would struggle to put up the same numbers after going from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr.
Adams responded by leading the league in receiving touchdowns (14) and logging a career-high in yards per catch (15.2), falling just 17 yards shy of his personal record for a full season (1,516).
He also made it to the first-team All-Pro for the third year in a row, so he didn’t suffer so much despite not having a future Hall of Famer at the quarterback position.
That’s why he recently made a bit of a bold statement in an interview with The Ringer, per PFT.

Adams claimed that last season proved that he doesn’t need Aaron Rodgers and that no quarterback can make him.
The Fresno State product also pointed out that the narrative around him will have to change forever, as people simply can’t say that he needed someone else to be great.
Of course, this shouldn’t be seen as a shot at Rodgers, as Adams has always had high praise for his former teammate, and he even tried to recruit him to Las Vegas earlier in the offseason before they signed Jimmy Garoppolo.
Also, the Packers will hope to find similar success without No. 12 under center as they kick off the Jordan Love era at Lambeau Field, but they may not find the same results that Adams found in Sin City.
