The Philadelphia 76ers are once again all over the news, and as per usual, it has nothing to do with what’s taking place on the court.
If it wasn’t enough with the James Harden situation, reigning MVP Joel Embiid also stirred the pot with his latest comments.
The Cameroonian big man let it be known that he wants to win a championship, whether it’s in Philly or somewhere else, fueling countless rumors on social media.
And while he later took to Twitter to claim that he was just joking around and trolling — again — it might be too little, too late for the fans and NBA insiders to actually believe that.
That’s why Sixers GM Daryl Morey cleared the air and let it be known that Embiid wants to stay in Philadelphia and win a championship there, via Keith Pompey.
"He wants to win it here. He wants to win it for Philly," Morey on Joel Embiid.

Notably, we’ve seen and heard these kinds of stories way too many times in recent history, and Embiid has never been the kind of guy who minces his words or beats around the bush when he wants to say something.
Embiid knew what he was doing — and rightfully so.
He knows it’s time to put actual pressure on the Sixers to get over the hump and finish the job once and for all, as his prime won’t last forever.
He can say whatever he wants about those comments being just another joke, but what if it isn’t?
That’s a risk the Sixers simply cannot afford to take.
