After several years away, D’Angelo Russell is returning to the Brooklyn Nets.
The Los Angeles Lakers traded Russell to the Nets this weekend, which didn’t surprise many people because his name had been part of rumors for months.
Some players may have been hurt and insulted by this move, but it sounds like Russell is ready for the next chapter of his career.
Writing on X, Dan Woike said Russell is “excited for the new opportunity.”
He wrote:
“Talked to someone close to D’Angelo Russell. He’s excited for a new opportunity, obviously saw his role diminishing with Lakers. A MASSIVE few months for him as he heads into free agency this upcoming summer. Considering market for Tyus Jones last summer, could be uphill battle.”

Russell spent two seasons with the Nets starting in 2017.
During his time there, he averaged 19.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.
Some fans consider that the best period of his career and they are eager to see what he can do upon his return.
The Lakers were running out of room for Russell and he wasn’t playing as much as he used to, which is why people thought he’d soon be leaving for another team.
Russell is still on track to enter free agency this summer.
If he plays well, he could get a big offer from the Nets or another team.
With an improved role and more time on the court, Russell could really impress.
But if he struggles or the trade market is too crowded, Russell may have a tough time getting the sort of contract he wants.
Is Russell going to stay in Brooklyn or continue to move around the league?
These next several months will have a huge impact on the rest of his career but he isn’t intimidated and is instead excited to prove his worth.
