The Los Angeles Lakers need every single win they can get at this point.
LeBron James made it clear to his teammates that they had to enter postseason mode after the All-Star break, going as far as to say those were the most important regular-season games of his career.
And while The King hasn’t been able to stay on the court due to an injury, the rest of his teammates have tried to pick up the slack in the meantime.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case on Sunday night during their home loss to the New York Knicks.
They know they need to win every home game for the remainder of the regular season, which is why D’Angelo Russell was so hurt after the loss.
"That one hurt for us… it just didn't really go our way." @Dloading had a great night (33 pts, 8 ast, 6 3pm) but the loss is a tough pill to swallow. pic.twitter.com/DyMJQamNqb

The Ohio State product admitted that it was a tough outing for Darvin Ham’s team, and not even his 33 points, eight assists, and six three-pointers were enough to uplift his team past his rivals.
As things stand now, the Lakers would be in the Play-in tournament if the season ended today.
Nonetheless, it’s not like they can afford to slip at this point in the season, as they have the very same record as the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New Orleans Pelicans.
LeBron will stay on the shelf for the next couple of weeks and they have some key matchups ahead of them without their best player.
So, let’s hope they can bounce back from this heartbreaking loss and just put it behind them before it’s too late.
