D’Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers has experienced both good and bad during the 2023-24 season.
There were moments when it felt like he was on the verge of being traded and then other moments when he was playing like the team’s brightest star.
Through it all, he has been carving a place for himself in Lakers history.
As pointed out by Lakers All Day Everyday and multiple other outlets, Russell could earn his 184th three-pointer on Friday night.
If he does, he will break the Lakers’ record for the most three-pointers in a single season.

He is currently tied with Nick Van Exel from the 1994-95 season with 183 threes.
That is ahead of Kobe Bryant’s 180 threes in the 2005-06 season and Van Exel’s 177 in the 1996-97 season.
For the season, Russell is posting 18.1 points, 3 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game, landing an average of 2.9 threes.
He has been better this season from beyond the arc and is landing 42.4% from the three-point line.
Russell has been an integral part of the team, especially since late January when rumors about him being traded were swirling around the NBA.
The trade deadline came and went, Russell remained in Los Angeles, and he has been playing like an All-Star ever since.
With that being said, the Lakers will need to decide upon a path forward with Russell soon.
Last summer, he signed a single-year extension with the team, which means they will have to figure out if they want to re-sign him or let him go.
The answer isn’t clear-cut, especially since the Lakers are still struggling even with Russell’s strong season.
The team is set to play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night, giving Russell a chance to make Lakers history.
Still, questions about his future remain.
