Last weekend, it seemed like everything was aligned for four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook to sign with the New York Jets, as he met with the team and got quite the greeting from fans that were watching practice during training camp.
All signs pointed to Cook putting pen to paper to join the Jets and make New York the next superteam in the AFC, but now it’s Wednesday, and there hasn’t been a single update about whether he’ll join Aaron Rodgers and company or go somewhere else instead.
With Cook being arguably the most talented player left in NFL free agency, there’s likely plenty of interest in his services, and he’s trying to figure out which team suits him the best.
If he doesn’t land with the Jets, then maybe he should consider signing a deal with the Dallas Cowboys to join fellow Pro Bowler Tony Pollard in the backfield, as former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky suggested on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

The Cowboys might be a bit of a stretch due to the fact that they cut longtime back Ezekiel Elliott to start the NFL offseason and didn’t sign Pollard to a long-term deal after a career year in Dallas.
An even bigger stretch is the Cowboys going after Jonathan Taylor, who seems to be untouchable now that Indianapolis Colts team owner Jim Irsay has insisted on not trading their star running back.
Jerry Jones and company might not be willing to pay Cook’s asking price, especially with Pollard in the fold for another season and the team recently drafting Deuce Vaughn.
As for the Miami Dolphins, it’ll be interesting to see if interest starts to heat up once again, as Cook signing with the Jets would be a costly blow for this team that shares the AFC East division.
