The New York Jets moved quickly on Wednesday to hire Aaron Glenn, who had been the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator since 2021, as their new head coach after conducting a recent interview with him.
With him in place, they can now turn more of their attention to upgrading their roster, and that task will, of course, start with figuring out what to do at the quarterback position.
It is unknown if Aaron Rodgers wants to stay with the Jets or even continue playing in the NFL, and it is also unknown how much the Jets, particularly Glenn, want Rodgers to stick around.
ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky said that they should consider keeping Rodgers around and pointed out that the future Hall of Famer played well down the stretch of this season.

While Rodgers clearly isn’t the player he was just a few years ago when he won the league MVP in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he didn’t do too badly during the second half of the season, especially in terms of keeping his turnovers down.
He finished the season with 3,897 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns and a 63.0 percent pass completion percentage.
If New York does decide to move on from him, or if he decides to move on himself, there likely won’t be any appealing options on the market, and their No. 7 overall pick in April’s draft likely won’t yield a promising young QB, given how bereft of QB prospects this year’s draft class is.
But if they do figure out some solution, perhaps there would be a pathway to their first playoff appearance since 2010, given how much talent they have throughout the rest of their roster.
