The Detroit Lions looked like the best team in the NFL for most of the season.
They weren’t the best team on the field on Saturday night.
Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders stunned them as 9.5-point road underdogs and the game was never in question for the visitors.
The Lions turned the ball over five times and only converted on three of six red-zone opportunities.
That’s why coach Dan Campbell believes the loss was on him.
Following the defeat, an emotional Campbell took the blame as he held back tears (via Ari Meirov).
A very emotional and tearful #Lions HC Dan Campbell: “It’s my fault. It’s my fault.”

He was affected by this major setback, stating that he didn’t have his guys ready to play.
Truth be told, it’s hard to put this one on Campbell.
It’s not like they lost because of his over-aggressiveness or because he is constantly going for it on fourth down.
They did give up several first downs due to penalties.
It’s almost impossible to win when your quarterback tosses three interceptions and loses one fumble.
Jameson Williams also threw a pick.
Then again, Jayden Daniels just couldn’t be stopped.
He kept slicing and dicing through every single look the Lions threw at him.
Daniels is a generational talent and is having one of the greatest rookie seasons in NFL history.
For Goff, this game will most likely haunt him for a long time, raising doubts about his ability to lead the team to the top.
