The Detroit Lions are about to lose their top assistant.
It seems like it’s just a matter of time before an NFL team hires Ben Johnson for their head coaching position.
With that in mind, the sought-after offensive coordinator has decided to hire an agent to help smooth things out.
According to a report by Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, Johnson hired Rick Smith of Priority Sports as his agent.

Multiple teams pursued Johnson for their coaching vacancies last offseason as well.
He withdrew from consideration and decided to return to Michigan, as he felt he still had unfinished business alongside Dan Campbell.
That’s likely not something he’s going to do again.
Johnson just schemed and called the most explosive offense in the entire league, and it now seems like he’s more than ready to finally be in charge of his own team.
The Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars have contacted him about their head coaching positions.
He likely will be able to choose his next destination, which is not something many assistant coaches and first-timers get to do.
For now, however, he has to be focused on a different endeavor.
The Lions are about to play their most crucial game of the season.
And while they’re heavily favored to get past the Washington Commanders, we’ve seen this David and Goliath situation way too many times in the past, and anything can happen in playoff football.
