The preseason is a time for teams across the NFL to solidify their rosters, potentially finding diamonds in the rough.
Preseason games give players a chance to make a final push to make the roster, proving they belong in the NFL.
The Dallas Cowboys decided Dak Prescott will not take a snap during the preseason, a luxury afforded to veteran players.
Some teams feel a need to play their starters during the preseason, at least for a few drives.
Others, such as the Cowboys, do not believe this to be a necessary exercise, and their offseason training is more than adequate.
Prescott recently talked about not playing in the preseason, a conversation shared via the team’s website and Around The NFL.
“Understanding that I wasn’t playing in the preseason a week ago allowed me to move forward and watch some of their past games,” Prescott said.

He believes that he’ll be even more prepared for Week 1 of the regular season, as the Cowboys will face off against the New York Giants.
Both teams made the playoffs last year, and the Giants have taken several strides during the offseason to better their roster.
With any luck, Prescott’s extra time to prepare will give him the fuel he needs to start the Cowboys’ season on the right foot.
Throughout the offseason, Prescott’s Cowboys have faced scrutiny from various pundits across the league.
The team is under a lot of pressure to do well in 2023, given a lack of deep playoff runs in recent history.NEXT: Jerry Jones Reacts To Cowboys Defender Getting Arrested
