In what seems to be a yearly tradition now, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Sam Williams was tangled up in a controversial situation.
The 24-year-old was reportedly arrested on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
Earlier this year, the former second-round pick was charged with a misdemeanor reckless driving that resulted in an arrest warrant.

He was reportedly driving up to 98 miles per hour, and both he and the other vehicle’s driver ended up in the hospital as a result of the collision.
Notably, the Cowboys had officially declined to go on the record about Williams’ situation.
But team owner Jerry Jones had a somewhat shocking take on it, stating that Williams is more mature now because he wasn’t speeding as badly as he was in December (via Ari Meirov).

Jones ignored the weapon and controlled substance charges before cracking the speeding joke.
The Cowboys took Williams out of Ole Miss in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
He made 15 appearances for the team last season, logging four sacks, three fumble recoveries, and 22 combined tackles.
Whether the team is going to enforce any sort of penalty or discipline after his second incident with the law in less than a year remains to be seen.
