With the NFL season just around the corner, the Dallas Cowboys have once again become the most popular team on television for the past couple of days.
Everybody seems to have a take on the Trey Lance trade, especially considering it was made unilaterally.
According to reports, team owner Jerry Jones didn’t consult with HC Mike McCarthy before trading a future fourth-round pick for the former No. 3 pick, and people are trying to read into that.
That’s why former Cowboys star Michael Irvin claimed that he has no issue whatsoever with Jones doing that deal without consulting McCarthy.
“I have no problem with Jerry not consulting Dak or McCarthy. You make that Trey Lance deal because you know in the future this can help the football team.”

Per the legendary wideout, Jones took the opportunity to potentially improve his team in the future, so he did absolutely nothing wrong.
Of course, in an ideal scenario, everybody on the team would be on the same page, and one could argue that this kind of move could end up being a big distraction, especially with the season so close.
But Jones has been critical of Dak Prescott in the past, and not every day a former No. 3 pick becomes available at such a reasonable price, especially not one who’s just 23 years old.
The Cowboys haven’t made it to the Super Bowl in decades, and even though they continue to be one of the most valuable sports franchises on Earth, they still need to add more silverware.
Prescott will now have to deal with that pressure, and if he can’t handle it, maybe it’s time for the Cowboys to go in a different direction.
